Description

This Encyclical, clear and powerful in its sources, explains in a very understandable way the foundations and application of the most basic ethical principles that guide human life.

The raison d’être of the Encyclical is explained by the Pope himself in number 2:

“No man can avoid the fundamental questions: what must I do? How can I discern good from evil? The answer is possible only thanks to the splendor of the truth that shines in the depths of the human spirit, as the psalmist says: «Many say: ‘Who will make us see happiness?’ Raise upon us the light of your countenance, Lord!” (Ps 4, 7).”

And the objective of the document is established in number 5:

Therefore, by citing the Catechism as a “safe and authentic reference text for the teaching of Catholic doctrine”, the encyclical will limit itself to dealing with some fundamental questions of the moral teaching of the Church, in the form of a necessary discernment on controversial problems among scholars of ethics and moral theology.” (No. 5)

The results are very useful for parents and educators in the field of sexual affective education.
