Description

This is a fundamental document on the subject of affective-sexual education within the framework of the Church’s proposal. In its number 2, the document itself explains its general framework and the intentions of its proposal:

“Our Dicastery, aware of the family dimension of education in love and of the correct living of one’s sexuality, wishes to propose some guidelines of a pastoral nature, taking them from the wisdom that comes from the Word of the Lord and from the values that have enlightened the teaching of the Church, aware of the “experience of humanity” that is proper to the community of believers. We want, therefore, first of all, to unite these indications with the fundamental content of the truth and the meaning of sex, within the framework of a genuine and rich anthropology. (…) This guide does not want to be a treatise on moral theology or a compendium of psychology, but rather take into account the contributions of science, the socio-cultural conditions of the family and the evangelical values that they preserve, for any time, the always current freshness and the possibility of a concrete incarnation.”

The result is a document that has served as a guide for years to those who have considered the development of aid programs and courses in terms of sexual affective education. Despite the years that have passed since its publication, it is a highly topical document.
