Description

Alive to the World is a full character and leadership curriculum providing the school a turn-key programme for the understanding and practice of the universal values including empathy, justice, reciprocity, fair play, solidarity, honesty, and a positive attitude to life in community.

The complete program consists of student books and teacher guides for each grade level, K-12, each with 35 weekly lessons, providing structured, but flexible use. All weekly lessons come ready-prepared, for time economy and effectivity. The Objectives of each weekly chapter are calibrated to the gradual maturing of mind, emotions, and actions.

The Teacher Guide for each grade level prepares the teacher to help the students to discover for themselves the attitudes and behaviours that lead to solid self-esteem. The story of Charles and his cousin Alice and their varied group of friends, family, and community, gives the reader vicarious experiences which match the concerns and aspirations of each stage of development, equipping and preparing children to become happy, strong, and balanced adults

How is the program implemented?

Alive to the World offers, in addition to complete teacher guides, an optional teacher training course providing fundamental knowledge of the sciences undergirding our pedagogical method.

Alive to the World involves and connects parents through simple and direct materials to keep them abreast of the concepts being discussed in class, as well as a guide to addressing the intimate aspects of sexuality so mothers and fathers can convey these scientifically with ease and delicacy.

Alive to the World provides permanent institutional support, through a team of educational experts dedicated to the constant revision of contents, impact measurement, as well as calibration and follow-up of the program.

Also, in schools with broad implementation, we designate educators with extensive experience to assist the teaching process and provide any necessary pedagogical support to the school throughout the school year.

Target audience

Alive to the World was created to give truthful guidance to children and adolescents confused, perplexed and anxious about life, sex and the future.

Guided by the science of such as Viktor Frankl, Melvin Anchell and other experts who shine a light on today’s confusion, the vital virtues for happiness and success of perseverance, loyalty, faithfulness, resilience, gratitude, courage, generosity and self-gift are taught gradually, layer upon layer, through the experiences, options and reflections of the characters in the story and schoolroom discussion.

Methodology

The vehicle used by Alive to the World is a fun, on-going story about Charles and his cousin Alice and their friends, inviting them to think and discuss about their world and the options and choices that they face at each age. Our students love the story, and we are constantly surprised to see that students go ahead and read the entire book in advance. Based upon what has come to be called the Pedagogy of the Integration of the Human Person, this curriculum uses in each of its 13 levels (K-12) the tried-and-true method of “Head, Heart and Hand.” Each exciting chapter in the adventures of these children, who grow through adolescence to young adulthood, attains its objective through the 3 levels of the person: spiritual, psychological and corporal.
